(Little Rock, AR) Since talks began about another stimulus package on Capitol Hill, Little Rock Wastewater (LRW) has been lobbying the Arkansas delegation for assistance and support for infrastructure improvements. The Economic Recovery Package predicted at least $20 billion for wastewater infrastructure projects. Currently LRW has been awarded $9,713,304 through low interest Revolving Loan Funds for local wastewater projects in Little Rock. These monies are issued loans, not grants and will be repaid.

LRW originally asked for $19,229,304 in assistance for the following projects:

Little Rock Wastewater (LRW) provides wastewater collection and treatment services to approximately 67,000 customers within the City of Little Rock and wholesale wastewater collection and treatment services to Shannon Hills and Sewer Improvement District 239. Currently, LRW has 28 remote, unattended pumping stations, two secondary treatment plants with another in the initial stages of construction, a maintenance facility, and an administration building. The collection system includes over 122 square miles containing approximately 1,293 miles of sewer lines. LRW has received awards from the EPA and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies(NACWA).

LRW is continuing to pursue the full amount of requested assistance. To date, the entire amount of assistance granted to Little Rock is $559,314,105. Also, to date, the entire amount of assistance granted to the State of Arkansas is $1,059,150,740.
