LITTLE ROCK – City officials are reminding Little Rock residents about the City's prohibition on gunfire and personal use of fireworks ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations on Wednesday. Residents are asked to ring in the new year safely and legally.
It is illegal within the City of Little Rock to discharge a firearm or set off fireworks. Celebratory gunfire to mark the new year is extremely dangerous because stray bullets could cause death, injury or property damage.
Because of the danger of celebratory gunfire to life and property, residents should call 911 any time they suspect gunfire.
For fireworks complaints, residents are encouraged to report violations to the email address LRPDFireworksViolations@LittleRock.gov. Messages received through the email account will be reviewed and assigned to a police officer.
Residents will receive automated acknowledgements of their complaints, but they should not expect direct contact with an officer. If police witness illegal activity, violators will receive citations, and illegal fireworks will be seized.
The email address will be monitored starting Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 6 p.m. until Thursday, Jan. 1, at 7 a.m.
Email reporting is the best and most efficient way to report suspected firework use. Residents are asked to use the email address to report non-emergency situations and to only call 911 to report gunfire, injuries and other emergencies.
