LITTLE ROCK – The City of Little Rock will mobilize its overnight cold-weather emergency shelter on Sunday evening because of forecasted below-freezing temperatures.

The shelter at Dunbar Community Center will be open Sunday, Feb. 16, from 8 p.m. to Monday, Feb. 17, at 8 a.m. The temporary emergency shelter is available to anyone who needs a safe, warm and dry place to stay.

Dunbar Community Center is located at 1001 W. 16th St.

Shelter operations will likely resume the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 18, based on current weather forecasts. Operating hours will be announced early next week and will be dependent on weather conditions.

The City's overnight shelter is open to anyone seeking refuge from the cold temperatures. No identification is required, and pets are allowed in bedside kennels provided by the Little Rock Animal Village.

In addition to Dunbar, other community centers serve as warming centers during the winter, and they are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those are Southwest Community Center, 6401 Baseline Road; Stephens Community Center, 3720 W. 18th St.; and West Central Community Center, 8616 Colonel Glenn Road.
