7900 Scott Hamilton Drive Homicide)

At 9:19 a.m., on Tuesday February 18, 2025, LRPD officers were patrolling the Scott Hamilton Drive area when an officer heard several gunshots. One officer observed a subject, later identified as 23-year-old Braylon Gibson, fleeing on foot from the area of the gunshots. Emergency Communications advised a report of shots fired at 7900 Scott Hamilton Drive. After a short foot pursuit, Mr. Gibson was detained pending further investigation. Additional officers responded to the area and located 24-year-old Jarquezz Meadows suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. MEMS and RESCUE responded and attempted life-saving measures; however, Mr. Meadows succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Simultaneously, officers secured the scene and notified Homicide Detectives while Mr. Gibson was transported to the Major Crimes Division for further investigation. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the course of the investigation, Mr. Gibson was developed as a suspect and charged with Capital Murder and transported to PCRJ. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
