Patrol Officers with the Southwest Division responded to 7700 North Chicot Road for a shooting call for service at 11:20 p.m., on Thursday, December 14, 2023. When officers arrived, they discovered 17-year-old Marquette Muhammad suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. MEMS responded and transported Mr. Muhammad to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the body of Mr. Muhammad to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the course of the investigation, 17-year-old Ricky Minor was developed as a suspect. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
