On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a shooting call at 6600 Lancaster Road. Upon arrival, officers located 20-year-old Xavier Sanders, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers called for MEMS who attempted life-saving measures with negative results. Sanders died on scene. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A short time later, officers were approached by an unknown juvenile who stated he was who they were looking for. The unknown individual was secured and transported to the Major Crimes Division where he was questioned and released pending further investigation. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
