At 5:42 p.m., on Sunday August 11, 2024, Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a check subject call for service at 4023 South Shackleford Road. Upon arrival, officers noticed suspicious circumstances and notified the Little Rock Fire Department who responded and breached the front door. Once inside, officers located 44-year-old Norberto Cruz and a juvenile deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The scene was secured and Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased bodies to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
