At 4:14 p.m. on October 26, 2023, 12th Street Patrol Officers were responded to 3600 Springer Blvd., however while en route Emergency Communications advised that shots were fired at the location and there was a subject down. When officers arrived, they discovered 32-year-old Kelvin Hawkins suffering from gunshot wounds. RESCUE was already on scene attempting life-saving measures and Mr. Hawkins was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. Officers secured the area, and a preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area and spoke with witnesses while searching for video surveillance.

#Update: On October 28, 2023, Kelvin Hawkins succumbed to his injuries, therefore, this incident is now being investigated as a homicide. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
