Key to the City Request Form
The Key to the City is a symbolic gift from the Mayor, honoring an individual who has made a meaningful contribution to the community. Inspired by the tradition of medieval walled cities—where gates were closely guarded—the key represents a gesture of trust, granting the recipient honorary “freedom” to enter and exit the city as a valued friend of Little Rock and its residents.
As the City of Little Rock’s highest ceremonial honor, the Key to the City is reserved for non-residents—individuals who do not currently reside within Little Rock or anywhere in the State of Arkansas. It is intended for distinguished visitors of national or international significance, or for leaders in their field whose work has positively influenced the quality of life in Little Rock. Because it represents the city's top ceremonial recognition, the Key to the City will be presented by the Mayor.
All Key to the City requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance to allow time for the approval process and the production of the key.
