Early Childhood Education

In the first year of life, a child’s brain triples in size. It will be 85% of an adult’s brain by age three. Upon Kindergarten at age five, a child’s brain will be nearly fully formed. Yet, most public investment in education happens after a child turns five.

The City of Little Rock has been designated by the Arkansas Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood as the Early Childhood Education Local Lead. In this role, the City is developing and implementing a community support plan to improve access to quality early childhood education.
